Oil Gas Conservation - A Look Into the Future

We are at the point now where careful consideration has to be given to oil/gas conservation and natural resources to secure travel for the future. Whether for financial reasons or for environmental reasons this is one subject that simply cannot be ignored.

One thing is for sure though, oil reserves will eventually diminish due to the rate at which they are being used up, so it is up to us now to make simple changes in our awareness and driving habits to use less fuel.

What is happening to the oil and how will it affect us?

We are using up our oil reserves at an alarming rate, so it should now become our responsibility to conserve what we have left and to use less.

Future generations will face major challenges in travel because we have plundered these natural resources. The regular transport as we know it today could look very much different in just five, ten or twenty years from now.

The upside of this problem means that there will be such a lot of opportunity to develop and produce alternative, renewable forms of powering our vehicles.

At the time of writing this an announcement was made of the first solar powered cross channel flight - an ambitious project that takes a step in the right direction.

Using less petrol/gas or diesel has become a top priority now for a lot of people especially with fuel prices that are spiraling out of control. It's the same in every country - no one can escape the misery of not enough oil to satisfy the demand which in turn forces up the price. This extra unaccounted for rise in the weekly motoring expenditure is putting a real strain on families.

And... the situation will only get worse as demand outstrips supply forcing fuel prices up even higher. The fuel prices are already at record levels at the moment, but you can expect them to keep on rising, there seems to be no end to it and sadly we are stuck with this situation now. If that's not bad enough, any tension or unrest in countries that produce crude oil will also force prices up even further adding to the misery of the already battered motorist.

What can we do in the short term?

If we could all use less fuel collectively, the demand would be slightly less and theoretically the price should either stabilise or reduce a little, meaning we would all be better off. Incidentally this is how the stock market works - supply and demand affects the price.

The first priority for the hard up motorist though will be to save money at the pumps and to get more miles per gallon from their vehicle. This is really hurting now and the golden age of cheap fuel seems to have gone because we have supped up the surplus oil.

By intelligently using less now we not only save ourselves money, but we are moving in the right direction of conserving oil reserves for another day, while making us all think about how to develop and use other forms of energy.
